The Right Facial for You!

Everybodys skin is different. Skin is effected by the enivronment, our hornmones, the products we use on the skin and by our life style choices. One day our skin can be glowing and the next we dare not leave the house without cover up. It requires a little knowledge to get the perfect skin for you. I am often complimented on my skin and I am grateful to my teacher Dr Deepa at Ayurveda Pura Academy for passing on the knowledge of Ayurveda to me which I believe has helped me achieve my skin goals today.

So just to be clear, you will not achieve the perfect skin through just one facial or a monthly visit to your beauty

therapist. Having said that it is my favourite treatment to receive, I find it so relaxing and I love the smells, the hot towels, definetly worth having a facial for the experience if you have not had one before. The perfect skin comes from the right life style choices you follow based on your own bodys spefic needs. This includes the food you eat, the exercise you do and your daily routine!

So I myself do favour foods and drinks suitable for my own body constitution based on the Ayurvedic principles. I perform an ayurvedic facial massage every morning incorporating the marma points of the face using warm Ayurvedic oils. I also make sure very morning I drink warm water on an empty stomach to get my digestive system working and I perform oil pulling to draw out toxins as well as working the muscles around the mouth, great for fighting those fine lines around the lips. This is just a small part of my morning routine. Rountines are so important not only to start your day right but you really do feel good for the rest of the day.

Ayurveda also believes that you should only put on your skin what you would put in your mouth. So don't be afraid to open your kitchen cupboards and see what you have already in doors. Ghee and Rose water are great cleansers. I love using herbal powders as exfoliates too, my favourite being turmeric and honey. If you have a Vata imbalance of dry skin and fine lines exfoliating twice a week is more than enough where as Kapha oily skin types can exfoliate more often.

If you want to know what your natural and current body constitution according to Ayurvedic principles you can book in for a consultation at the studio. We also offer a varity of different techniques which you can add to any luxury facial including Microdermabrasion, High Frequency, Micro-current and LED light therapy.

The products we use at the studio include The Urban Veda ranges that " are designed to be suited to different skin care types which in the principles of Ayurvedic medicine are associated with ‘doshas’. We also use Magiray products which "are based on the principles “S+T” – Science+Traditions, which means that

it uses traditional recipes, when they are validated by modern science and applies scientific innovations, when they are rooted in the time-proven traditions of folk medicine."

The oils we use to massage with are Ayurveda Pura's Holistic Essential range . They are organic, SLS-free, perfume-free, parabens-free and free of animal testing. Based on the principles of Ayurveda, they are lovingly hand made in the UK. These oils have been created to suit everyone's Dosha (body type) accordingly.
